The mega loud blare of a locomotive’s warning whistle is an extremely recognizable sound and one that brings feelings of nostalgia and romance to some and invigorating excitement to others. It’s the second group that really enjoy the big sound and who first began finding ways to add the mechanism to trucks and cars.
The more popular the trend grew another somewhat disturbing trend was also on the rise. Trumpets were disappearing from the tops of locomotives sitting in train yards. The correlation is such that you can only assume they ended up tricking out someone’s ride.
