First in a heavy duty setup the train horn will a pressure switch that will go specifically near the exhaust of the air compressor. The switch will have two separate wires that come from it. First there is the positive charged wire that will move directly to the battery or other material that creates the 12-volt energy needed for the horn to work properly. Before purchasing a train horn kit, you should always make sure to check that the parts are new and that all of them are there. Train horn kits, the most basic ones, should at the very least include an air tank, air compressor, air valve, and air horn. On top of these, always make sure the kit includes detail instructions (user manual) on operation, which, if possible, you should go through with the retailer for them to clarify any parts you don’t understand. In this article we will try to complement this manual by offering a few suggestions on what goes where, but this shouldn’t be used as substitute for a manual.
Let’s examine each part of the train horn kit in the order we have described them above, starting with the air tank. If you decide to install it on the side of the vehicle or any exterior parts, make sure to use new and strong mounting equipment to keep it stable. Also consider its weight so as not to destabilize the vehicle.
